Red Hatters Invited To Unveiling

Posted by Queen Annabella on October 20, 2015 at 3:50 PM Comments comments (0)

The Red Hat Society attends the unveiling of artist Danielle Trudeau's A History of Hat mural.

On the morning of Aug. 27, a small crowd gathered on the corner of Furby Street and Sargent Avenue to see the unveiling of West End’s new mural, History of Hats. Several members of the Red Hat Society were in attendance, and they were in good company — almost everyone had worn their favourite hat to see the mural for the first time.

Artist Danielle Trudeau recently completed the mural, along with a collaborative music-themed mural which is in the same neighbourhood. Trudeau will be unveiling a third mural on Sept. 16. All three murals were commissioned by the West End BIZ.

The History of Hats mural has the appearance of a storefront window with a display of hats from different countries and time periods, accompanied by a description.

"I started doing a lot of research on hats," Trudeau said, donning a beanie. "I had a lot of fun painting the bright, colourful things… doing the fascinators was fun because they’re a little crazier."
